Top tips to slay your JAG application

We're glad you're interested to work with us and is keen to learn more about how to ace your application to work with us at JAG.

Shhhh... from us to you, here are some handy tips!

  1. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the job

When applying for a role, make sure your resume/ CV addresses the specific requirements of the job. Your cover letter (if required) should speak to what makes you the ideal candidate for the role. Make them as relevant to the job’s required skills and experience as possible.

  1. Prepare for the interview

If you secure an interview, do your research and learn more about JAG and our brands. Check out our websites, social media pages, and learn as much about our business as you can. This shows us that you are well prepared, enthusiastic, and interested in the position. Essentially, this would help you pass the JAG vibe check.

  3. Be punctual for the interview

No one wants to be late to a job interview so get there early. Make sure you leave early enough to arrive 5 to 10 mins prior to your interview.

  4. Give detailed and relevant responses

In the interview, you will be asked behavioural questions. Be sure to provide as much information as possible about relevant experiences and knowledge you have. We recommend using the STAR technique to answer questions.

    For example:

Tell us about a time when you were required to balance multiple and conflicting priorities. What did you do?

    Answer by providing:

    • Situation – Tell us about the situation you faced

    • Task – Explain the task you were required to perform

    • Action – Help us to understand what action(s) you did to manage the situation or scenario

    • Result – Tell us the outcome and result of your action(s)

  5. Presentation

All our staff are ambassadors of our business and represent our brand. Making a good impression during the interview is important as it translates into how you are likely to interact with children, parents and school representatives. Remember to dress appropriately for the interview, communicate clearly, and use eye contact and body language to help you when answering questions.

  6. Prepare and ask questions

A good interview should be conversational in nature. It’s a great idea to ask questions during the interview if you have any. Often at the end of the interview, you also have the opportunity to ask questions of the interviewers. This is a great way to show that you are interested in the role and seek to understand more about the company culture, working arrangements, future planning of the company, or any other details you’d like to know more about.

...and there you have it! If you keep these top tips in mind, you'll slay your JAG application, no cap.
